Built in Guayaquil, Ecuador, for the Pro-Forest Foundation, located in the foothills of Cerro Blanco Protected Forest. The material used for both the structure, mezzanine, partitions and carpentry is the bamboo.
The joints between structural elements are solved through custom-made fittings that are anchored to the voussoirs through expansive mortar as a filling. The shape of the typical porch is a product of the need to provide large eaves for climate protection and also to raise the finished floor seeking lower air circulation and insulation of vermin. The ceilings are permeable to the air to promote superior ventilation and the cover material is made of straw which offers thermo-acoustic insulation. The electrical supply is 100% solar.
